The work of the psychologist

Exist so many myths about the activities of the psychologist? Let's see what kind of myths?

The first myth. Psychologist as a priest. If we consider that for many centuries, people poured out soul, repented, confessed it was the priest, the origin of this myth becomes obvious. And now someone can go to a psychologist, hoping to be heard, forgiven, understood. Psychologist for such people is holy, infallible person, and his work place - the temple of kindness, forgiveness. In principle, such a point of view of the psychologist has the right to exist. In confirmation of this, in recent years has started to develop a Christian, orthodox psychology, combining spirituality of the priest and professional scientists and psychologists.

The second myth. Psychologist - a wizard, a magician, a shaman. The origin of this myth also goes without saying, as to whom, if not to astrologers, sorcerers, magicians treated people in antiquity for the wise advice and support. And now a psychologist someone is hoping that it's one word, one tip, "a wave of a magic wand" to solve the problem. Such expectations are unfounded.

Myth Three - philosophical. The client sees a psychologist omniscient sage, most intelligent, well-read, educated person.

Myth Four - karmic (from the word "karma"), astrological. It is similar to the previous two. A client with a representation of the work of the psychologist comes to a specialist with complaints: "The map is not laid," "Stars and planets in the wrong location," "Not fate me solve this problem," "I am haunted by bad luck," and so

Myth Five - Medical. A man comes to a psychologist as to the doctor, in communion with the specialist uses medical terms, names, and considers himself unwell patients in need of treatment. In a sense, a psychologist - also a doctor - a doctor of the soul, but ... in this case, much of the responsibility for the "healing" takes on the client.

Myth Six - adequate. This is not a myth at all, because the person going to the reception to the psychologist knows for sure what to expect, is ready to take an active part in helping themselves. This client can directly say, "I have a problem," "I have a phobia, depression, stress ...".

How would a client or related to the work of the psychologist, the latter should preferably adapt to present his client about it, conform to these ideas, saying "the customer's language" and at the same time, slowly, gently, but persistently to help him (the client) to achieve greater adequacy understanding of the work of the psychologist. In other words, it is desirable that the person perceives the beginning of psychology as a sorcerer, magician, wizard, began to perceive it as an officer, a scientist, a psychologist.
